CIPA Training
Methodology
IP3's training capabilities represent a
commitment to developing the skills that all public and private professionals
and their organizations will require in the new global economy. Our emphasis is
on offering courses and workshops that are highly technical and professionally
engaging and that will help you and your organization thrive in the new
economy. Since our founding in 1994, IP3 has employed an integrated capacity
building methodology for the design, development, and implementation of all our
training programs. Our CIPA Training Methodology, is based on four main
drivers:
- Content sessions that
transfer knowledge through expert-led presentations
- Illustration of the content
through case studies and small group discussions
- Practicing knowledge
learned in simulation and/or role playing exercises
- Application of the
knowledge through the IP3 Action Plan Process
This process is illustrated
below:

The CIPA Methodology is geared
specifically towards the learning needs of adult, mid-career professionals,
making it particularly useful for providing professional participants practical
and results-oriented training.
The CIPA Methodology
is unique in the field of human resource development for the following
reasons:
- It is applied in a participatory environment for
maximum information retention that combines appropriate classroom teaching
methods with practical case studies, professional site visits, computer labs,
simulations, and site visit/study tours activities.
- It involves observational study tours, site visits,
and meetings with a variety of practioners to witness first hand the actual
examples in action.
- It introduces participants to various information and
communication technology tools, including simulations, and e-learning
(online) training modules.
- It emphasizes IP3's trademarked application process,
called the IP3 Action Plan Process, allows participants to
apply the knowledge learned to actual work situations in their own
organizations and begin to immediately use the tools and techniques acquired
during each training course . Six months after the training ends, IP3 conducts
a follow-up review on the status of action plan implementation and offers
ongoing implementation advice and support.
Technology and Learning at
IP3
At IP3, we believe there is a tremendous
opportunity to integrate information communication technology services into
education and training. Since our founding, we have provided thousands of
participants with laptop computers and relevant software packages to foster
such integration.
In all of our Washington, D.C.-based courses,
each participant is provided a new mobile Intel© CoreDuo© or AMD
Turion© laptop computer (as part of the course fees) that will be integrated into the learning process
through the following:
- Course materials provided via the Internet (via
broadband wireless connectivity)
- Internet research and communication tools
- Case study and simulation activities
- All Action Plans will be completed electronically
After the course is concluded, access to
course materials will be available for up to two weeks on a dedicated and
secure website.
Instructors at IP3 Courses
Teaching to professional adults,
particularly from a diversity of backgrounds and cultures, is always a
challenge. At IP3 we recognize this challenge and actually use this to our
advantage in the design, development, and implementation of all our training
activities. To address this issue, particularly when it comes to course
content development and delivery, all of IP3's instructors possess two key
skills:
- Practical and hands-on experience in the topic he/she is
teaching on; and
- Excellent communications and presentation skills.
Our instructors are drawn from IP3 staff,
our consultants, and industry leaders. We have been very proud over the years
of our ability to not only put on a high-quality training event, but to make
learning engaging and even fun for participants. All of our instructors are
skilled at implementing IP3's trademarked learning methodology, the CIPA
Methodology.
