Course
Learning Objectives Governments on all
continents have established regulatory commissions and agencies to oversee the
energy, water, telecommunications, and transportation sectors. Most of these
agencies (either single or multi-sector) are in operational stages.
Commissioners, senior management, advocates and regulated company staff alike
are designing and strengthening the rules, processes, and procedures to govern
their work requirements. They now face complex structural issues about optimal
organization, strategic planning, staffing and training as well as tariffs,
licenses and stakeholder communication. All of them require a key component:
transparency in regulatory operations.
IP3's course titled Regulation Processes and Procedures
Skills Enhancement (which will be conducted in an online
environment) provides the opportunity to train hundreds of participants on the
fundamental concepts, tools, techniques, and models of utility benchmarking.
The course contains six modules, with each module completed over a one-week
period of time. Participants are responsible for completing reading
assignments, analyzing case studies, actively participating in discussion
boards and chat rooms with fellow participants and the course instructor, and
completing an action plan. Participants will need access to a computer with
Internet connectivity. Course work is approximately 5 - 6 hours per module/per
week. IP3 participants in previous online courses have found they benefit
significantly from the interactive sharing of ideas and
insights.
As a result of taking the
course, participants will develop the appropriate regulatory skills to impact
operations, management, communications, and financial planning of their
regulatory body. The target audience is professionals who have had some
exposure to regulation and are seeking to enhance their regulatory knowledge
and skills through this practical program. Return to
