The Institute for Public-Private Partnerships (IP3) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.
Developed in 1990, the National Registry of CPE Sponsors is a program offered by NASBA to recognize CPE program sponsors who provide CPE programs in accordance with nationally recognized standards. The names of approved CPE program sponsors are published in a listing distributed throughout the country via the internet and in printed format. State Boards of Accountancy and their licensees can refer to this listing to identify and select CPE program sponsors.
Professional Development Hours (PDH) is the measurement tool that Professional Engineers (PE) in the United States use to track annual continuing education requirements.
1.0 PDH equals one contact hour of instruction, presentation or study related to the PE professional practice. For example, if a course has15 contact hours of instruction or study requirements the professional (if all course requirements are completed) can earn 15 PDHs.
Online (self-paced or group), webinars, and classroom/seminar course delivery qualify for PDHs.
Over 30 State PE Boards require mandatory continuing education, but do not pre-approve any continuing education provider, course, or activity. IP3 courses may be submitted for PDH Credit to the below PE State Boards:
Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
For actual PDH requirements for each state, please consult with each individual State PE Licensing Board. A list of licensing boards and continuing education requirements can be found at: http://www.ncees.org/Licensing_boards.php. It is the individual PE’s responsibility to track his/her continuing education requirements and maintain appropriate records of PDHs earned.
Four additional states, Florida, New York, Louisiana, and North Carolina, require training providers to be pre-approved. IP3 courses are currently not pre-approved with the PE Board in these four states.
