IP3, under a grant provided by USAID and administered by the World Bank, recently completed a three-day course on PPP Agreements and Other Related Contracts for the Executive Privatization Commission (EPC) in Jordan. Approximately twenty-five participants attended from the EPC, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Public Works & Housing, Jordan Investment Board, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Water & Irrigation, Ministry of Environment, Prime Ministry, USAID, and various private sector agencies. H.E. Ms. Dina Dabbas, Acting Chairperson of the EPC, provided the opening remarks.
The program focused on the key elements of PPP contract design, structuring, negotiation, and dispute resolution. Mr. Jacques Cook, Senior PPP Advisor in IP3, states, “The program focused principally on the key aspects of the legal documentation and institutional arrangements for developing and implementing PPP projects. The participants were drawn from several agencies of the Jordanian government as well as the EPC. They all were unanimous in their approval of the training and the tangible results of the intensive training.”
The course took place at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar at the Dead Sea, Jordan, from October 15 – 17, 2011.
